2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Our text today is one in which God addresses the wisest man in history, Solomon. It is a response to a prayer for the nation of Israel and its future. But I would be remiss if I did not earnestly share that it is also an answer to many of our prayers for America today.
Regardless of what the naysayers’ report, America is a country that is made up of hundreds of millions of people, many of whom claim Christianity. Founded by Christian men and women and based upon Christian principles, teachings, and laws, we are a nation that has been blessed time and time again because of our close relationship with God.
However, it is a difficult time in which we live and America is suffering because of our sins. We have removed God and prayer to Him from our public schools, our marketplaces and our government. We have made ourselves addicts to pleasures, pornography, and port. And we have sacrificed our children on the altars of ‘freedom of self’ and ‘individual liberty,’ pursuing money and all the power and material possessions that it can acquire.
We have made the right, wrong, and the wrong, right and like Israel if old, we have become too proud and fallen more deeply into sin. We have worshipped false gods and drifted away from the Lord.
But it is not too late to change. Restoration may still be had if we will but call on God, humble ourselves, and pray seeking His face, and turn from our wicked ways; then God says He will hear from heaven and will forgive our sins, and heal our land.”
Will you join with me and call on Him today? Will you humbly pray for our nation to turn from our wicked ways? Let us go to the Lord together.
Dearest Father, we as one people, one nation, call out to you. Heal us and heal our country. Look upon us with favor and help us to be the people you want us to be. Forgive us our sins and remove them as far from us, as the East is from the West. Restore us O Lord we beg. Amen.
God has shown us the way and given us a map to our desired destination. It is up to us to begin the journey! Will we? God bless America again! Pastor Toby
