Daniel 3:16-18
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.
All felt that the end was coming, but the faith of the three was strong. The choice was easy, do wrong and live on or act on principle and obey the Lord God and face death. The three young men chose obedience and whatever might come with it! Because of their choice, God was glorified and all came to know of His strength and omnipotence. Human wisdom was proven untrustworthy and the three lived on!
If you have the choice today to serve a ‘god’ of culture or to instead stand and make (what the world would say was an illogical decision, albeit a Christ-focused one) which would you choose?
Would you choose the furnace or the palace?
Let me offer the wisest counsel of which I am able - Take your stand based upon Godly instruction, as did the three young men in the scripture today. Even if, in the eyes of the world, it is irrational. In so doing, you will be placing your faith in God and turning your back on serving the golden images that the followers of the world have established.
Just remember, our God is sovereign and He will deliver you if you take your stand and choose Him, regardless of your situation, even if you have thrown yourself in the furnace!
