Matthew 28:7
“And now, go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead…”
Another Holy Week has come and gone – we have paused to take time to celebrate the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday, remembered Christ’s death on Good Friday, and rejoiced at the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ 3 days later. Praise the Lord!
For around 2000 years, we have stopped and remembered the events of this most recent Christian season, truly the most important in the Christian church today. The sacrifice of our King for us His people, and the great hope He has brought about through this same death and resurrection, are more than can truly be fathomed!
There is a saying that is so important to me that as I stop and survey all that has happened this past week it invades my thoughts. That statement is, “Whosoever will”. It is the summation of what Jesus’ death and resurrection is all about.
Because of Him and His perfect love and sacrifice for us, we now can choose where we will spend the eternity of our existence. We can choose what our priorities will be, and we can choose which God we will worship. We can choose salvation or death. Whosever will.
There no longer has to be a staring into the bottom of a bottle for life, a looking for love in too many faces, or a chasing of the almighty dollar for the power and control it seems to give. God has given us a new way to another destination, and He has handed us the roadmap as to the place He desires for us to journey.
Can you imagine? Our God gave up everything for us, to give us an opportunity to make the most important decision of our lives - one that before was beyond our capabilities.
Now, go quickly and tell! Tell other Christians, tell Muslims, tell Buddhists, even tell those who do not believe there is a God. Share the gospel and the power of the Resurrection. Give others the roadmap as well.
He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!
Now, go quickly and tell! It is the least we can do.
Dearest Lord, thank you for giving us the opportunity to spend eternity in heaven with you by sending your son Jesus to pay the debt for our sins. Help us now to remember your sacrifice and share with others the path so that they too may spend eternity in paradise with you. Amen
May God bless you,
Pastor Toby
