Staff
Steve Doles has served as part-time pastor of Cumberland Church in Lubbock since May 2010; for the previous 6 months, he served as Pulpit Guest.
In addition, he is the Executive Director of Pray Lubbock, and has been since 1999. He previously served seven years as youth and Christian education pastor at First Christian, Lubbock, and for four years before that, he was the Associate Pastor at First Christian in Greensburg, Indiana.
Steve is a graduate of Taylor University, Upland, Indiana and has earned Masters of Divinity and Masters of Arts degrees from Cincinnati Christian University, Cincinnati Ohio, with one year of his masters-level work completed at the Institute of Holy Land Studies, Jerusalem, Israel. He completed his Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California, in the spring of 2002.
Steve and his wife, Joy, have been married since 1980 and and have lived in Lubbock since 1991. Three of their five children, Jaquan, Travon and BayLynn, live at home while Stepheni also lives in Lubbock and Tony lives in Midland, TX.

Joy Doles is a graduate of Taylor University. She has traveled to a number of countries on mission trips, including Brazil (cleared part of a jungle to build an air strip for an Indian tribe), Japan (taught English at a church), Israeli-occupied West Bank (taught English at a Palestinian school), and Peru (dug and retrenched water lines for a Christian camp). Before starting her family, Joy taught high school English and served as yearbook and newspaper advisors. She homeschooled her biological children and fostered children for about 15 years. She has also served as a substitute teacher, TPRI tester and tutor in public schools. Joy, along with her husband, Steve, have five children. She began working at Cumberland part-time in May, 2010, and started full-time work in the office in September 2010.
