Joy Doles is a graduate of Taylor University. She has traveled to a number of countries on mission trips, including Brazil (cleared part of a jungle to build an air strip for an Indian tribe), Japan (taught English at a church), Israeli-occupied West Bank (taught English at a Palestinian school), and Peru (dug and retrenched water lines for a Christian camp). Before starting her family, Joy taught high school English and served as yearbook and newspaper advisors. She homeschooled her biological children and fostered children for about 15 years before adopting three more children. She has served as a substitute teacher, TPRI tester and tutor in public schools. Joy, along with her husband, Steve, have five children. She began working at Cumberland part-time in May, 2010, and started full-time work in the office in September 2010. In 2014 she welcomed a daughter-in-law, Simone, a son-in-law, Anthony, and a granddaughter, Kailyn, into her family.
